As Take Down Mariners 5 4 On Walk Off Homer

A's Walk-Off Homer Takes Down Mariners 5-4

Dramatic Finish in Oakland

The Oakland Athletics (15-20) pulled off a thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the Seattle Mariners (20-15) on Wednesday night at the Oakland Coliseum, thanks to a walk-off home run by Seth Brown in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Brown's Heroics

With two outs and runners on first and second, Brown stepped up to the plate against Mariners closer Paul Sewald. On a 1-2 count, Brown launched a 93 mph fastball over the right-field wall, giving the A's their third walk-off win of the season.

A Tight Contest

The game was a back-and-forth affair from the beginning. The Mariners jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Julio Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly by Mitch Haniger.

The A's responded in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer by Shea Langeliers to tie the game at 2-2.

The Mariners regained the lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Eugenio Suarez, but the A's again tied the game in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Sheldon Neuse.

Bullpen Battle

The bullpens of both teams played a significant role in the outcome of the game. The Mariners' bullpen allowed just two hits and one walk in 3.2 innings, while the A's bullpen allowed three hits and one run in 4.1 innings.

Stat Highlights

  • A's starter Cole Irvin pitched 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks.
  • Mariners starter Logan Gilbert pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.
  • Brown's walk-off homer was his fifth of the season.

Looking Ahead
