Muchova stuns Sabalenka to reach Roland-Garros final
Karolina Muchova has advanced to her first Grand Slam final following a thrilling three-set victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the Roland-Garros women's semi-finals.
The unseeded Czech player saved a match point in the second set before eventually prevailing 7-6 (5), 7-5, 7-5.
It was a hard-fought battle between two of the most in-form players on the WTA Tour, but it was Muchova who ultimately proved to be the more consistent and determined player on the day.
Sabalenka had her chances and indeed should have won but Muchova always seemed to find a way to respond to the Belarusian's power.
In the end it was Muchova who held her nerve and closed out the match in style with a clinical forehand winner down the line.
She will now face either world number one Iga Swiatek or Daria Kasatkina in the final on Saturday.
