Melbourne Victory advanced to the semi-finals of the A-League Men after a thrilling 1-1 draw with Melbourne City in the elimination final at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
The match went to penalties after the scores were locked at 1-1 at the end of extra time, with Victory goalkeeper Paul Izzo saving four spot-kicks to secure the 3-2 win.
Victory took the lead in the first half through a penalty from Bruno Fornaroli, but City equalised in the second half through Jamie Maclaren.
The match went to extra time, but neither side could find a winner, with Izzo making a number of crucial saves to keep Victory in the contest.
In the penalty shootout, Izzo saved spot-kicks from Maclaren, Scott Jamieson, Aiden O'Neill and Thomas Glover, while Victory converted all three of their penalties.
Victory will now face Adelaide United in the semi-finals next weekend.
